Sermon by Chris Shadbolt from To The Nations, Zambia
Part 1
Part 2
But when Jesus saw the multitudes. He was moved with compassion for them,
because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
Matthew 9:36
When Jesus saw the condition of the people, He didn’t put his head in the
sand, or look the other way or crossed over the road. Something about it He
also said in Matthew 15:32 ‘I have compassion on the multitude. They have
been with Me three days and have nothing to eat.’ Jesus lived by what He
would teach. Love Matthew 14:14 When Jesus went out He saw a great
multitude and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.
What a heart Jesus had, He fed the 5000, the 4000 and set free multitudes
of people. He gave Hope and life to a dead and dying world.
In Matthew 10:1 Jesus brought a solution to the problem and when He called
His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to
cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and disease. Then He tells
His disciples, ‘Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out
demons. Freely you have received, freely give’!!!
Good News, you and I have been commissioned to carry on the Lord's work in
this world today. Empowered by the Holy Spirit to set the captives free.
This is not only just for preachers, or special people, but for All of us.
Ephesians 4:12 for the equipping of the Saints for the work of the
ministry!! ‘We, the people of God carry the Good News. Take the Gospel
message with you every day. The Gospel is about what God has done for us
and what we can become in Christ.’
God gave you a fingerprint that no one else has. So, leave your imprint on
lives. I had a saying ‘God is not moved by needs, His is moved by faith.’
that contains truth but we see every He went, He saw He acted and He met so
many needs. He is still doing so today, all over the world.
Jesus was a great preacher, and attracted enormous crowds.
Matthew 7:28 The crowds were amazed at His teaching.
Matthew 22:33 The crowds were profoundly impress.
Mark 11:18 They were astonished at His teaching.
Mark 12:37 They enjoyed listening to Him
Jesus began with the people’s needs, hurts and interests. He scratched
where people itched. That’s why He felt compassion toward them. He knew
that the crowds were, ‘harassed and helpless, like sheep without a
shepherd.’
What can happen to so many of us is that overtime our hearts get hard, and
we close ourselves off to the needs of others. My prayer is ‘Lord, help me
keep my heart soft.’

1 John 3:17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in
need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does that love of God abide in
him?
