When Jesus saw their faith, He said, to the paralytic, “Son your sins are forgiven you” Mark 2:5
What a powerful story, this passage illustrates of a paralytic and the faith of his four friends. Faith is to be lived and demonstrated in the way we live it. Faith is not something just to be talked about, but to be lived.
James 2:18 “Show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith by my works.” In Mark 1:12 (please read this passage), these four men demonstrate this principle.
I want to look at three qualities of their faith, that I believe needs to be apart of our faith as well.
1. Jesus saw four men who cared
They weren’t thinking of themselves. They didn’t need a special blessing from the Lord. But they had a friend who did.
Someone said “They won’t care how much we know until they know how much we care”. They cared “we will take you to Jesus”.
2. Jesus saw four men who wanted to share Christ.
Acts 4:20 “for we cannot but speak the things we have seen and heard”. The Church needs to be a people with a faith that is anxious to share Christ. It is easy to tell people what the Lord has done for you, your own experiences.
3. The Lord saw four men who wouldn’t give up
Verse 2-4 (please read). These four men could have said it is too hard, lets go home. But four men refused to have a defeatist attitude. Too many are anxious to cry, “It can’t be done”, and until we put in the effort, it won’t be done. We need to get our hands dirty in helping others get free.
Phil 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”. They took the roof off, and Jesus looking up saw four men looking down, He saw their faith.
In these four men Jesus saw Faith, Determination and concern for others.
What does Jesus see in us?
