There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus a ruler of the Jews. This

man came to Jesus by night…

    John 3:1-21

For some weeks now I have been thinking about this man Nicodemus. He was a

Pharisee, which means he was an influential man in the religious circles in

Jesus’ time. He was a member of the Jewish ruling council, called the

    Sanhedrin.

He came to Jesus at night! In John 7:50-51 John 19:39 it is repeated that

he came to Jesus ‘by night’ Why? Was it because he was ashamed to be seen

coming to Jesus. I think Nicodemus had questions that he wanted to be

answered. At night, he could have time with the Lord with no interruptions.

Jesus did not turn him away and He was willing to talk to him. Jesus does

not tell Nicodemus how he should live but told him how he must come to

    life.

Jesus talked about being Born Again! In verse 7 ‘Do not marvel that I said

to you, you must be born again.’ A man cannot live before he is born, nor

can he live for God until he is Born Again. Jesus said in verse 3 unless

one is born of water and the spirit he cannot enter the Kingdom. Water

speaks of the Word of God, Spirit is of the Holy Spirit and the washing of

    the word.

Spiritual Darkness Nicodemus lived in Spiritual darkness and Jesus got

right to the core of the problem. We are all born in sin and the god of

    this world.

2 Corinthians 4:4-6 (PLEASE READ) has blinded the minds of all people.

Jesus said in John 12:46 I have come as a light into the world, that

whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. Ephesians 5:8 For you

were once darkness… Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of

    darkness…

Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people. Whether educated or

uneducated, Jew or Gentile, black or white, rich or poor, powerful or weak,

blue blood or blue-collar, religious or sinner - ‘You must be born again.’

    Have an awesome week
