An Injection of Faith
Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24
Over the last two months I have been preaching on the heart, and living out of the inner man.
Every now and again, we need an injection of faith to encourage us to never give up and don’t settle for less than God’s Best.
Times can be hard and the going tough, and nothing seems to change. We can grow weary and faith goes to an all time low.
When you have been standing in faith, with hope in your heart, waiting on the Lord etc, the hardest thing is not to take things into your own hands.
David is saying in Psalm 31:24 Be of good courage, He will strengthen all who hope in the Lord.
Over the years, often I have had to settle down and talk to myself. Change focus, from the problem to the answer. To stop and take stock of things.
1. What have I stopped doing? Etc Reading, praying, fellowship
2. What have I started saying? Am I speaking negative, or am I still speaking positive words, based on God’s words.
3. What have I stopped doing?
4. What have I allowed into my life?
5. Have I lost my joy> Sin will take your joy.
6. Who am I mixing with> others will influence you for good or bad.
7. Should I seek help? “yes” should be the answer.
Psalm 71:1 In you, O Lord, I put my trust!
Please read Psalm 71:5-8, 14-18 and all God’s word to build you up again.
I was reading about Dr Howard Kushner, who was in a POW camp in Vietnam for 5 years. He wrote about a marine who for 2 years survived as a prisoner, because the camp commander promised to release him if he co-operated. Others had been released also on the same promise. He became a model prisoner. But gradually he realised they’d lied to him. He gave up. Stopped eating, just lay on his bed. In a matter of weeks he was dead. We are never defeated until we are defeated on the inside.
Don’t give up, rise up in your faith and confession, go to God’s promises in His word and keep believing. Let your faith rise again!
John Knox 1572 founder of Presbyterian church of Scotland, needed help to the pulpit. But once he was there he preached with such passion that a nation turned to God.
John Wesley 1791 He was forbidden to preach in a certain church, instead of giving up, he went to the grave of his father, and using the tomb as a pulpit, he preached and many came to Jesus.
George Whitfield 1732 Came home from a preaching tour, very tired. As he lit a candle and prepared to climb the stairs to his bedroom, he noticed a group of people at the front of the house. He invited them into his foyer, and candle in hand, preached his last message from the stairway. That night he died in his sleep. 55yrs old.
2 Chronicles 15:7 But you be strong and do not let your hand be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.
When King Asa heard these words, he took courage, and removed all the idols out of the land.
Have a faith filled week and believe in the God of the Supernatural.
Blessings and Love
