Appreciation of Each Other
I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy. Philippians 1:3-4
Last Sunday we celebrated our 9th Birthday at Spirit Life, in a wonderful presence of God. I have always enjoyed Pastors Appreciation Day in America and wanted to have an Appreciation Day for the whole church.
What a wonderful meeting it was, and so moving as different one said kind words about people they wanted to appreciate. We never want to be taken for granted. I have a saying ‘More bees come to honey than vinegar!!’
To be appreciated and part of a church family is something to be valued. Correction does much but encouragement does more. Mother Theresa said “There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for bread.”
Paul teaching in 1 Thess 5:12-13 And we urge you brethren, to recognize those who labour among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish them and to esteem them very highly in love for their works sake. (Admonish) - To encourage, build one another up, to appreciate. Appreciation can make a day - even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.
Do you take people for granted? Like you wife, husband, children, etc. Church leaders, each other!
Paul says in Eph 4:32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.
We need to see that good in others. We all have faults and short comings. People who teach themselves to see the good in others tend to be more positive and experience happiness more deeply. To see the good in others, we must first learn to see the good in ourselves.
Jesus is teaching, a lawyer when he was asked a question about the great commandment in the law. He said ‘you shall love the Lord you God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first great commandment and the second is like it ‘ you shall love your neighbour as you love yourself Matt 22:37-39
Then in John 13:34-35 Jesus said. ‘A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you. That you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
At Spirit Life Church, my heart's desire is to have a loving family church, full of caring people who overlook faults and see the good in others.
Who will you encourage and appreciate today?
Great Blessings on all you do.
Pastor Stuart and Colleen
