Last Sunday, Darren Jellard blessed us his testimony overview of his life leading up to salvation & beyond. Pre-salvation (Mothers Day 2006) Darren testified that his whole life, he was oblivious to the existence of God. He has a total lack of knowledge on anything to do with God & His salvation plan already completed & ready to be adopted by all those who believe.
Hosea 4: 6 (NKJV) says “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.”
Whilst many non-believers are also lacking in knowledge that would save them, or the knowledge that they even need saving, we also as children of God can be destroyed from a lack of knowledge. For example, if we don’t understand our authority & His power or the understanding of how to operate in it or the power of the tithe or role of the Holy Spirit in me, or the ways of walking according to the spirit & not the flesh. The list could go on & on. We could walk a life as a Christian in complete defeat instead of the abundant life (Jn10:10) that Jesus died to make available to us.
Proverbs 4:7 says “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” What are you desiring to obtain today? Gods way of operating (Matt 6:33) is not just stumbled upon, it is learnt through a humbled heart that wants to know and seeks the truth.
Whilst Darren’s life had the appearance of being tragic & full of pain of the loss of his mother at the age of 16, God had a plan to bring the reality of salvation to him. God had a plan. Who would have thought that Joseph’s life and events in the Bible would have been the necessary steps to bring him into greatness in the palace in order to save the whole lineage? It sure didn’t look like that. Yet that’s what happened.
We haven’t already seen our end, but God has & He knows what’s coming ahead of our life’s path. God will lead us by His Mighty Holy Spirit, but we must learn to be a follower of Him. Imagine driving a car & then the passenger decides that they want to take over & do it their way, reaching over to take control. The car is likely to spinout & crash, possibly even killing another. It is much more relaxing being the passenger than the driver. The passenger doesn’t have to look ahead & can even sleep peacefully knowing that the driver is awake & knows where they are headed.
Salvation is just the beginning, not the destination. God is invited to get into the driver’s seat & then the journey begins. We are all on a journey & at various stages. Darren never knew then, that by changing his mind to get his wife Nicola the thing she had asked for, would be the very thing that took him to the cross on that Mother’s Day 2006. Since then he has had many miracles and been healed and forgiven of much including gambling and addiction to sports.
For years Darren was perishing for lack of knowledge and robbed of knowing Jesus as his Lord and Saviour and the scriptures, but today he walks in victory and can stand in faith, knowing that Jesus will never leave nor forsake him (Deut31:8). That Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever. (Hew 13:8).
Consider today who or what you are living for. Choose life & surrender to the hand of God in your life today. Trust Him always, even when situations do not look like what you want. And study the Word, speaking in tongues, ready to release Gods power into areas around you whenever the need arises. God is faithful! Praise the Lord for He is worthy of all praise.
