"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust
destroy and thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures
in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not
break in and steal. For where your treasure is there your heart will be
also." Matthew 6:19-21
My son Alan and I went out to Killarney Vale to camp out for two nights. We
had very clear and cold nights and as I sat by the first looking up to the
heavens, seeing the night sky with no street lights. I began to think about
Eternity, and Jesus said He has prepared a place for me John 14:1-6. I said
to myself I have got Heaven on my mind. Do you ever think about Eternity?
That one day you will stand before your maker and give an account of your
life? see 2 Corinthians 5:10, Romans 14:12
Jesus in Matthew 6:19-20 is teaching about money and possessions. He is
saying don't hoard here on earth but store up treasures in heaven. Earthly
treasures are so temporary, but heavenly treasures are eternal. In Matthew
chapters 5,6,7 Jesus uses the word Heaven 17 times, Heaven is a real place,
as He said in John 18:36 "My kingdom is not of the world. God wants our
hearts and devotion. He didn't say you can't own things, He said stop
focusing on accumulation, and set your heart pursuing treasures in heaven.
How do I store treasures in Heaven?
