How to Handle a Crisis

Many are the affliction of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all    Psalms 34:19

For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, but the wicked shall fall by calamity Proverbs 24:16

Last week I was looking at a shift in our thinking and our confession. For we have been looking at keeping your hope alive as I was meditating on these thoughts it came to me and I believe by the Holy Spirit, that we need to move forward from Hoping to Knowing

A shift in the spirit realm around our lives, from I Hope so to I know so. I dont hope I am saved I know I am saved. We know that we know that Jesus is Lord, and that everything is under His watchful eye, and under control in Him

The more you read Gods Word and do personal Bible studies, the more you will know and understand that you are held in the Palm of His hand.

So when it comes to facing a crisis, its no different, because you know that you stand on the Rock Christ Jesus, and He cant be moved and nor will you be. Take time and think about your own faith and trust in Jesus. What things do you know? What things do you need to know so that you will not be moved by every incoming tide! I know that Gods Word is His Word, and that I dont live by bread alone but every word that proceeds from His mouth. Matthew 4:4

The Bible is full of men and woman who faced all sorts of crisis, and incredible odds.

A crisis is any situation that upsets the balance of life. A time of intense difficulty or danger.

What to do? How to handle a crisis.

No 1 Stop... Everything will be running wild. Your emotions will be all over the place, such as fear, worry. What can I do? This is the end of my life. Im finished etc. Stop, Breathe let the dust settle. Have a good sleep, things are worse when you are tired and worn out. Dont Panic

No 2 Remember God is still on the throne When you are in trouble and you are feeling pain, loss, hurt and frustrations, it is easy to forget God still rules. Psalms 5:3 says But our God is still on the throne. Habakkuk 2:20 The Lord is in His Holy Temple. How reassuring to remember God is sovereign! Our lives maybe in chaos and our circumstances appear to be unbearable, but remember, God has not forgotten you and He is at work.

No 3 There are things I cannot control. This is where you have to trust God and His faithfulness. Prayer is a key.

No 4 Trials are for my benefit. James 1:2-3 says count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces Patience, Perseverance etc. All this calls for a response, such response can be either positive or negative, you can either go forward in faith or go backwards in unbelief and fear.

Over all the years of Pastoring Colleen and I have stood with countless number of people, facing all sorts of problems etc. Every crisis has one thing in common. God is the deliverer. God is the power source, God is the Hope. Why would it be any different for you and I?

Please reread Psalm 34:19 & Proverbs 24:16

Keep Praising.

Pastor Stuart & Colleen.
