Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken
him to a wise man who built his house on the Rock and the rain descended,
the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not
fall, for it was founded on the Rock.
Matthew 7:24-25
For the month of April, I have been preaching about Jesus, being the time
of Easter. My first message was ‘Jesus is Lord.’ Then ‘It’s all about
Jesus.’ He is our life and hope. ‘For in Him we live and move and have our
being” Acts 17:28
While in prayer and meditation on God’s word I felt to carry on the message
about Jesus our Lord and Saviour. That He is the Rock we stand on. David
said in Psalm 18:1-2 The Lord is my Rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my strength....
Then in Psalm 40:1-2
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set
my feet upon a Rock, and established my steps. Our feet are on a firm
foundation, that can’t be moved.
The word Rock is used 142 times in the Bible. The Rock is more than a word
that describes an earthly element, it’s more about a person. It describes
Jesus in the old & new testament, and the Father.
Here in Australia, we have many high-rise buildings. They take months to
construct the foundations before the building goes up. We all need a strong
foundation!! Jesus Christ is our only foundation. ‘For no other foundation
can anyone lay than which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.’ 1 Corinthians
3:10
And all drank the same spiritual drink for they drank from the spiritual
Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ
1 Corinthians 10:4
The story of Moses in the wilderness, and the cry of the people for water
Numbers 20:1-13 Jesus said in John 7:38 He who believes in Me, as the
scriptures has said out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. The
Holy Spirit flowing out of us, and brings refreshing to all who are filled
to overflowing.
In all this I want to encourage you to have a strong foundation and a
faith, based in God’s word. Building a foundation on Christ will stand the
test of time, and we will all finish the race and purpose to be on earth.
Start today to study God’s word. Learn of His ways and the teaching of
Christ.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:24-29 in His message called the sermon on the
mount. ‘therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I
will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the Rock. After a
strong storm etc that house did not fall. He said if we don’t hear, and
don’t do, will be built on the sand. We experience the same storm, but the
outcome is different.
So many lay other foundations. Like earthly riches, hope in human wisdom,
or own human strength etc. All this is building on the sand. This message
is to be continued.
Are you building and standing on the Rock Christ Jesus?
Have a great week
