Kings and Priests - Mike Lyons

Revelation 1:6 and made us kings and priests to God and His Father, to Him

be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Within our Christian walk and the role in which we function it is vitally

important to note that we have been made both Kings AND Priests.

1Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy

nation, a people for possession, so that you might speak of the praises of

    Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

These are two entirely different functions. The role of a priest is

essentially an intercessory one., That is they go before God on behalf of

    the people, circumstances, & situations.

We typically see this role fulfilled in the new testament church when

people pray for one another, the nation, leadership etc. We are in effect

“lifting up” these situations and people to God asking for help,

intervention etc. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and so we

    should.

Nevertheless, in this capacity we are operating in the role of a priesthood

which is only half of our calling.

The role of a King is to take charge, exercise authority, and issue

    commands and decrees.

Esther 8:8 And you write for the Jews as it pleases you, in the king's

name, and seal it with the king's ring. For the writing which is written in

the king's name and sealed with the king's ring, no man may turn back.

In this case clear delegated authority was given by the King to his

approved representatives to issue a decree according to their needs. Such a

decree was sealed in the King’s name and no man had the authority to

    reverse.

This situation came about as a result of Esther’s intercession (Priestly

function) Many times the role of intercession is to generate the correct

authority and direction in order to take appropriate action. Nevertheless,

the church often stops at intercession, never transitioning into the Kingly

anointing to act as a source of Apostolic governmental spiritual authority.

Matthew 10:1 And when He had called to Him His twelve disciples, He gave

them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all

kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

Matthew 10:7-8 And as you go, proclaim, saying, The kingdom of Heaven is at

hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons.

You have received freely, freely give.

The church was given Keys (authority and revelation) of the Kingdom with

the mandate of binding & loosing (moving in authority issuing decrees

    & commands)

Luke 10: 17-20 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even

the demons are subject to us through Your name.

And He said to them, I saw Satan fall from Heaven like lightning.

Behold, I give to you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and

over all the authority of the enemy. And nothing shall by any means hurt

    you.

The church triumphant, the church victorious, we are called to fight the

good fight of faith in the midst of trails and temptations.

2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but

mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds,

Next weekend is Easter, and the Cross has done it’s work. Jesus is alive

and we are temples of the Holy Spirit, we are called out of darkness into

His great light, to see His kingdom extended on earth. Today start to walk

in your God given authority as a King and take back any ground that the

    enemy has stolen from you.

Be Blessed and have a great week
