Living A Spirit Filled Life Pt 2

I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ that lives in me, and the life. I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20

Paul said ‘The life I now live in the flesh.’ What sort of life are you living today? People live all sorts of lives, some good, some not so good. I went to school with a girl that when her schooling days were over, she never left the house. She had so many fears etc that she never worked, never married, locked up in the prison of her mind. What a sad existence. God has a life all mapped out for each and everyone of us. 2 Peter 2:9 says that He called us out of darkness into His marvellous light, to live a rich fulfilled life in Jesus.

Paul talks about three groups of people on the earth.

1. The Natural Person 1 Corinthians 2:10-14 The is someone who has not received Jesus into their life. They are spiritually dead to the things of God. Held by satan in darkness.

2. The Carnal Person 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 Please read. This is a born again Christian, but one who lives in defeat because h/she is trying to live the Christian life in their own strength. They're governed by the 5 senses, rather than by the Holy Spirit.

3. The Spiritual Person 1 Corinthians 2:15-16 Please read. One who is directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Jesus is on the throne, and has grown in the things of God. They read and study the word and have developed a prayer life. Jesus said, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled.

Living a Spirit Filled Life, is one that pushes into the things of the Spirit. Paul brings out some very good teaching on how to build ourselves up in our most holy faith. You and I are responsible for our own edification. It is not up to anyone else to make us happy or complete. Looking at 1 Corinthians 14:1-5 to break it down! ‘For he who speaks in a tongue edifies himself.’ Paul also says ‘I wish you all spoke with tongues.’

Praying in the Spirit is a powerful way to pray. As I pray in tongues I can feel a charge in my spirit man and a freshness comes and stress goes and peace comes.

Isaiah 28:11-12 For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people to whom He said ‘This is the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest’ and ‘This is the refreshing.’ The rest of God, the refreshing of the Lord that came through the gift of tongues.

Also Jude 20 says ‘But you, beloved, building yourselves up on the most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.

Are you Spirit Filled, and speak in other tongues?

Then it comes down to It’s not, can I speak in tongues?  It’s do I put it into practice? Many can, but don’t, and do not see much value in doing so.

The Benefits of Tongues

Here is an interesting health though, Dr Carl Peterson of ORU in Tulsa, Oklahoma is a brain specialist and was doing research on the relationship between the brain and praying in tongues. Some amazing things were discovered.

Through research and testing, Dr Peterson found that as we pray in the Spirit or worship in the Spirit (our heavenly language) there is activity that begins in the brain. As we engage in our heavenly language, the brain releases two chemical secretions that are directed into our immune systems giving a 35-40 percent boost in the immune system. This promotes healing within our bodies.

Amazingly, this secretion is triggered from a part of the brain that has no other apparent activity in humans and we don’t use it. It is only activated by our Spirit-led prayer and worship.

We need to pray in our prayer language more than we ever have before.
