The Word of God states in Heb 12:1 “….let us lay aside every weight and the
sin that so easily ensnares us.” The three words that stand out in this
verse are weight - sin - easily. The implication of the word ‘weight’ is
‘carrying an arrow tip inside’, a wound that weighs us down and keeps us
from running our race with freedom. (TPT)
The exhortation is to ‘get rid of every arrow tip in us’. An arrow tip that
is not removed will continue to fester until the victim dies from
infection. Prov 18:14 states - “A wounded spirit who can bear.” When we
allow wounds of the past to remain in our spirit they become ‘weights’ that
affect our Christian walk. These ‘weights’ can be - unforgiveness,
resentment, discouragement, disappointment etc, and unless removed will
cause ‘spiritual death’ in our lives.
What is the key to remove the weights?
Heb12:2 “Looking unto Jesus…...” that is, NOT focusing on the hurts but
look to Jesus as the Healer. 1 Peter 2:24 says that Jesus “bore our
sins”….. literally “carried the weight for us.” - He became sin – so we
could “live unto righteousness – by whose stripes we are healed.”
Heb 11:2 (TPT) says it like this:- “…...look away from the natural realm
and fasten our gaze onto Jesus who birthed faith within us and who leads us
forward into faiths perfection.”
This is living unto RIGHTEOUSNESS!
Have a Blessed week
