Do not be drunk with wine, in which dissipation but be filled with the
spirit. Ephesians 5:18
Today is the day when most people make up a list of New Year’s resolutions
- and splurge in anticipation of the rigors of the coming year. If the goal
is to lose weight, we enjoy a final dessert. If the goal is to stop buying
on credit, we make one final purchase using plastic, and if the goal is to
begin having morning quiet time in prayers and bible reading then we sleep
in one last day.
Research shows that most New Years’ resolutions are broken, in sprite of
our best intentions. I looked up the word resolution in the dictionary ‘to
make a firm decision to do or not to do something, determination, purpose.
It is a great way to make a positive change in your life, but is to often
short lives, and 80% are broken before the end of January. So many give up
before they really get started. I have made a list from the time I was Born
Again in October 1973 (46yrs). Things like, lose weight, join a gym, stress
less, eat healthy foods, save money, learn new skills etc.
Then my spiritual growth goals also. Looking back, all of this has been
good for me!1 But this year of 2019 I am going to have ‘One Goal’ based on
Ephesians 5:18b ‘Be filled with the Spirit’ ‘To live a Spirit Filled Life’
That means keeping short accounts when it comes to sin and listening for
the sprits guidance and appropriating His strength every day. It is likely
that after a year of walking with the Spirit, much more change will have
occurred than by trying to keep the most noble of human resolutions. One
goal achieved by the Power of the Holy Spirit would be better than a
multitude of unfulfilled good intentions.
How do I yield more, and how do I live a Spirit filled and Spirit led life?
1. Pray in tongues, In the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 14:2 For he who speaks in a does not speak to man but to God.
Praying in the Spirit is a hot line direct to Heaven. The Holy Spirit prays
through you. What a great gift we have been given, that is so neglected.
1 Timothy 4:14-16 Do not neglect the gift that is in you.
2 Timothy 1:6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God.
Paul is saying to Timothy, that he has a gift given to him by the laying on
of hands, and it is up to him to keep it alive, by stirring it up.
To live every day in the Spirit, its up to us. No other person can do it
for you. When was the last time you prayed in the Spirit? So many born
again, spirit filled people fail in this area, and then wonder why they are
so spiritually dry and barren. This is a major key if you want to live a
Holy Ghost Life in Jesus.
2. Daily Prayer and Bible Reading
In the natural we ear meals 3 times a day, and snacks in between! How much
more important to feed our spirit man on the Word, and prayer. Do a study
on the Holy Spirits activity in the life of Christ. As you look at this,
you will see the Spirit was at His conception, His birth, His baptism, His
40 day temptation, His cross, His resurrection,. His 31/2 year ministry.
2019 for you and I can be a great year of spiritual growth, and of drawing
nearer to Jesus, and being led by the Holy Sprit every day. Would you take
up the challenge this year? ‘Once Resolution” Ephesians 5:18 To be filled
with the Holy Sprit, and live a spirit filled life every day (365 days).
Result - Go into 2020 in a new place of authority and power.
Have an awesome 2019
Much Love
