Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:10-11
In this part of the book of Ephesians, Paul is bringing to our attention
the spiritual battle that we are all in. As a Pastor and Leader, I want to
walk and live in my God given authority. As a church my heart is to see
people grow into all that God has for them, a rich fulfilled life. I need
to teach the whole council of God, and point out the pitfalls on the road
to eternity.
We see in Matthew 7:13-14 Enter by the narrow gate for wide is the gate and
broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by
it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to
life, and there are few who find it.
Jesus said ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the
Father except through Me John 14:6
Satan is a creature of darkness. He prefers to keep the true nature of his
activities concealed. If he can keep humanity unaware of his tactics or
even of his very existence - he can use the twin tools of ignorance and
fear to open the way for his destructive purposes. So Paul’s teachings in
Ephesians 6:10-11 He tells us to stand against the wiles of the devil. The
word ‘wiles’ means ‘scheming, deceiving cunning.’ When we let our guard
down or as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 10:12 Let him who things he stands
take heed lest he fall.
For the devil goes around like a roaring lion, seeking who he may devour 1
Peter 5:8
So back to Ephesians 6:10-20 please read verse 12-18
Our fight is not against flesh and blood, but demons and the powers of
darkness. If you are confronted in some way or another by a person, what we
do is attack that person and do much damage to the relationship. What we
need to do, is to look beyond that attack to the spirit behind that person.
God uses people to do His work, so does the devil. Paul says take up the
whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand.
Verse 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able
to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Take the helmet of
salvation, the sword of the Spirit, God’s Word. Praying always with all
prayer and supplication in the Spirit being watchful for each other. What a
great weapon, praying in tongues is. The spirit will push back spiritual
attacks.
God has provided everything we will ever need to live out our Christian
lives on earth. If we will use all He has provided. The Power of the
Blood’s protection. He has delivered us from the power of darkness.
Colossians 1:13
1 John 3:8b For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might
destroy the works of the devil.
Over the next few weeks, I want to examine the pattern and mission of Jesus
in dealing with demons.
Have a great week and keep on keeping on.
Our verse for the year ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens
me.’
Philippians 4:13
Much Love
