The God You Can Trust - Pastor Stuart Price

I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence comes my help. My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The Lord shall preserve (protect) you from all evil. He shall preserve your soul. Psalm 121:1-8

A child will jump from a high place into the arms of the father, with no fear, knowing that the father will catch them. They have total trust. Do we trust our heavenly Father to catch us? Yes, all we have to do is jump in faith and trust. Please read Psalm 121

Years ago I remember driving the roads with my family in New Zealand and I would come up behind a sheep truck. There were so many hills and not many passing lanes. At the top of the hill an arm would be extended out of the window and wave you to pass. The driver could see the clear road ahead, but all you could see was the arm out the window. Full trust in somebody you will never meet or know, and I would pull out and pass.

Yet when it comes to God, we want assurance, confirmation etc before we do anything for Him. We like to put out a fleece, want a word of prophecy etc. Do we really trust God with our lives?

Jesus is teaching in Matthew 6:24-34 Do not worry about your life, about what you will ear or wear. Please Read these verses. He says look at the birds, they don’t sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them.

Years ago I used to write out a scripture verse on a card and learn it off by heart. I wanted to put His word in me, like David said “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” Psalm 119:11

One was 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

Temptation is not a sin, nor a sign of weakness. Temptation becomes a sin, if we do not deal with it properly. Paul says in  Hebrew 4:15 That Jesus can sympathize with our weaknesses as He was tempted, as we are, yet without sin. “God is Faithful” How is this so? He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear. He will also make a way of escape.

The word in the Greek for temptation also means testing and tested. James 4:7 Draw near to God, resist the devil and he will flee. Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days. Luke 4:1-13. Each of satans temptations was met with the same answer It is written followed by scripture.

If Jesus used the Word to end temptation. How much more do we need to use it to end temptation?

The God you can trust will help you to overcome, make a way of escape that you do not enter into sin.

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knows how to deliver you out of temptation.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

I have so much more that I want to teach on this subject, so will open up more next time.

DON’T GIVE THE DEVIL A FOOT HOLD James 1:12-15

Have an awesome week.
