We Walk By Faith Part 2

 

For we walk by faith, not by sight  2 Corinthians 5:7

Walking by faith is not the most natural thing on earth. Like any exercise, exercising our faith is easier said than done. No one is ever quite ready - intellectually, emotionally or spiritually - for God’s ways, life’s lessons, or unexpected turns.

On Sunday I was talking about Abraham set out before he saw the big picture. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12a

For now we see in a mirror dimly. All things are not clear, and by faith we move forward, on one word from God. Move forward by  faith and trust on a promise or a word from Heaven.

Both Colleen and I moved from New Zealand to Australia on a word, a dream and a vision God had put it in our hearts. We did not see the ‘Big Picture’, all we could do was live one day at a time. Many people asked us questions that we did not have the answers to. IF we had walked by sight, we would still be in NZ. Sometimes you cannot find word’s to explain to others because it is something that has been put into your heart and spirit by the Holy Ghost.

When people asked Abraham why he was leaving all the comforts he had in Ur and travel into the wilderness and into very dry places, he could not put it into words. ‘A man of faith is not perfect in faith but is persistent in faith’.

It was the same when the Lord spoke to me on a Saturday morning when I was mowing my lawn in March 1999 ‘Arkansas’. What? One word from God can change your life and direction. Then, in March 2000 we set foot in Little Rock Arkansas (on one word from Heaven). Could we see the big picture ‘NO’ But we knew someone who could.

Faith without works is dead, and life is too short not to take risks for Jesus. I am a risk taker and always will be for I have only one life to do something for Jesus. Both Colleen and I have always had a heart to be obedient to the call.

In all our adventures together, we have never left the Holy Spirit out, as in Romans 8:14

For as many as are led by the spirit of God, these are the Sons of God. We will not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. The Holy Spirit has always gone before us, and has made a way where there seems to be no way.

Faith and fear are great forces, and I refuse to let fear rule my life. We have always been faith people, and walk by faith. You need to live by faith. Gal 5:16 ‘Walk in the spirit... Verse 25 ‘If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.’

Will your faith be tested? “YES”

1Peter 1:7 ‘Your faith will be tested by fire.’

James 1:3 The testing of your faith produces patience.’

Living by faith and walking by faith is an exciting way to live.

Regardless of where you are or what you have been through God has a big picture for your life. Don't be afraid to dream big.
