At the Feet of Jesus
“Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village,
and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him in to her house.
And she had a sister called Mary,
who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word”
Luke 10:38-39
We have been looking at the Two Prayers Paul Prayed in Eph1:15-23 and Eph 3:14-21, life changing prayers and still doing so today, as in the time Paul prayed them. Look at EPH3:19 “To know the love of Christ”.
Mary is mentioned 3 times in the Bible and is always found at the Feet of Jesus.
Martha opened her home to Jesus
Mary opened her heart to Him, in our zeal to serve the Lord we wind up ignoring Him.
While Martha labored, Mary listened.
1. She Found a Place of Stillness (verse 40)
We need to work and do the things that keep the home going! However, we do need to take time and listen to His words, and in doing so you can forget about the cares of the world, and learn to love the Lord more than your worries.
2. We Can Feed Our Souls (verse 39)
- Martha – food for the body
- Mary – getting her Soul Feed
- Many of Gods people are weak and lacking in Spiritual vitality, never taking time just to come into His presence and feed on Him, we must have Soul Food or we dry up Spiritually. Read Job 32:12
3. We Can Find Ourselves (verse 42)
- Mary found fulfillment and contentment.
- Mary found something that millions live their entire lives and never discover – acceptance and contentment
Those 2 things alone are worth spending time in His presence. If Christians could learn the value of spending time at His feet, a lot of Psychiatrists and Psychologists would have to go out of business.
Do it today and for the rest of your life.
Take time for “YOU” and sit at His Feet!!
Love you all heaps.
Ps Stuart and Colleen
