Fire from Heaven
“A perpetual fire shall burn on the altar, it shall never go out” Leviticus 6:13
Last Sunday we started to look at this subject!
God told Moses, “never let the fire go out on the altar”! Fire kept going as a symbol of the never ceasing worship that God wants to come from our lives.
A fire of holy affections, the exercise of our faith, love, prayer and praise to be without ceasing. God himself lit the coals as the original fire came from heaven.
Lev 9:24 “Fire came out from before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When all the people saw it they shouted and fell on their faces.” Wow that must have been something.
God told Moses to build the Altar 5 cubits by 5 cubits. The number 5 speaks of grace! Gods grace poured out through the Cross!! Every day at the 3rd hour and the 9th hour they offered up a Lamb to God on the Altar. The Altar speaks of the Cross of Gods only son. In Mark 15:25 “now it was the third hour they crucified Him”.
9th hour, 9AM same time every day Moses offered up a Lamb on the Altar and 3PM the same day he did the same. Then from about noon, when the sky would darken, until 3PM something amazing would happen, God the Father would open Heaven and blaze the fire of His judgment against sin down upon His innocent Son. Jesus would fulfill the secret of the burnt offering. Now because Jesus became a burnt offering on the altar of the Cross, there is an Eternal Flame that burns forever at Calvary.
That’s why we want the Cross in the centre of our church services and lives!!
It must be the central message, “for” as Paul said “the message of the cross …. is the power of God” 1Cor 1:18
FIRE SHALL NEVER GO OUT!!
more next week
Love you all heaps.
