David's Life Principles. Psalm 37

This week Pastor Stuart Price showed us the Life Principles the Bible encourages us to live our daily lives by. King David was an old and wise King, many of the Psalms he wrote were during or after great trials.

In Psalm 37 King David describes the life principles of Trust, Delight, Commit, Rest and Cease. He is very clear that you will have a long happy life if you live by these principles, and what will come to pass if you don’t.

Verses 1 and 2 set the scene telling us that not to follow after the wicked or be jealous of what they have because they won’t last long. It’s best to follow the ways of God and His Kingdom Principles.

1. Trust. In verse 3 we are told to Trust in the Lord. Trust means to have; firm belief in the reliability, truth, or ability of someone or something.

2. Delight. In verse 4 we are told to Delight in the Lord. The Passion Translations says to; make God the utmost delight and pleasure in your life. Delight means to have; feelings of great happiness, take great pleasure in.

3. Commit. In verse 5 we are told to Commit to God your ways, let Him lead you. Commit means to; pledge or bind to, be dedicated to, resolve to be in a long term relationship.

4. Rest. In verse 7 we are told to Rest. We looked at resting in the Lord in January to review please click here for part 1 and click here for part 2

5. Cease. In verse 8 we are told to Cease from anger and not to fret. Cease means to: bring to an end and Fret means to be constantly or visibly anxious, to fret will consume you it will devour you.

We encourage you to read Psalm 37 and study it. Every day ask yourself if you have lived the day by these principles. We suggest you place a note in a prominent place to remind you.
