The Battle Is The Lords

This week Pastor Stuart continued his message of the spiritual battle we are in and looked at Jehoshaphat.

Jehoshaphat was a great King of Judah, he was 33 years old and reigned for 25 years, he walked the ways of Asa his father and did not turn aside from it, he was a man with a good record and was right in the eyes of the Lord.

In 2 Chronicles 20 we learn that a great multitude had risen up from beyond Syria, and Jehoshaphat stood in the Congregation and Prayed.

2Chronicles 20:14  "And the Spirit of Jehovah came on Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the congregation."

2Chronicles 20:15 "And he said, Listen, all Judah, and you people of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat! So says Jehovah to you, Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude. For the battle is not yours, but God's."

Jehoshaphat was a good King, he restored worship and reading of God's Word to his people. He never sought riches or honour. But out of nowhere the attack came. He didn't have to fight it, but he did have to face it. He got into position and stood his ground. God did the rest.

Like Jehoshaphat your spiritual battles will come out of nowhere, you will feel blindsided, off guard, but remember The battle is not yours, but God's.

Nahum 1:7 tells us that the Lord is good, a stronghold in the days of trouble and He knows those who trust in Him. We need to know Him, trust Him, rest in Him and have peace in Him.

The Church is Shammah and we are in spiritual warfare, a fight against evil forces, even more today than ever before. The attack will come at us when we least expect it, we are enjoying good health, a good home life, strong relationships, life just seems to be at its best, then suddenly it is all a mess, we can feel loss, pain and sorrow. We find our peace of mind has gone.

Moses said in Exodus 14:13 "Do not be afraid, stand still and see The salvation of the Lord", and in verse 15 "The Lord will fight for you."

In closing remember "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Ephesians 6:12)

Do not be afraid for the battle is the Lords
