The Power of the Holy Spirit

In your home you have a; fridge, TV, washing machine, heater, air conditioning, they all need to be connected to a power source to work. We are connected to a source of power in the Church. That power is the Holy Spirit.

The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit are the God Head Trinity. Our source of power.

Acts 2:13-17, the message in these scriptures is about the day of Pentecost when the Helper, the Holy Spirit came down from Heaven and settled upon the Followers of Jesus. Peter makes reference to "This is That" (Acts 2:16)

Earlier in the chapter it talks about a loud noise came from Heaven and a rushing wind that filled the house where the Disciples were sitting. Then tongues of fire appeared and sat upon them. This was when they were filled with the Holy Spirit and they began to speak in other languages. In Jerusalem at this particular time were Jews and devout men of every nation.

Because of the noise, all the people in the area came out to see what had happened, and they were puzzled and then amazed because they each heard them speaking in their own language.

Then in verse 13, the mockers came out, saying "these men are full of sweet wine". Peter one of Jesus Disciples called out to the mockers saying, we are not drunk like you think, "but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel"

Peter continued on to say that in the last days, God will pour out His Spirit upon all flesh, and there will be prophesy, visions and dream dreams.

The people asked Peter what they needed to do to be filled with the Holy Spirit as well, Peter said to them "Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins, and you shall receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit." Then in verse 39, Peter tells them that it's a promise to everyone including their children and those far away.

Spirit of Holiness

The Holy Spirit is our;

·       Helper in times of trouble

·       Comforter when we are going through times of sorrow

·       Counsellor when we are confused, needing guidance

·       Advocate when being accused and need someone

·       Friend when others have turned their backs on us

He is the Holy Spirit and will lead us away from wrong and sin To Right Living. John 16:5-15 says the Holy Spirit is a Person, and Jesus sent Him, Acts 1:4-5 talks about the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit brought Power and Authority, and a consciousness of God presence.

Being without the Holy Spirit is like a gun with no bullets.

Join me next week, my message will be about what happens when we pray in the Spirit

Have a blessed week
